Myofascial Cupping & RockPods: What You Need to Know
Cupping has become increasingly visible in sports and massage therapy, but not all cupping treatments are performed in the same way.
At Sana Remedial Massage Cronulla, we may incorporate myofascial cupping and RockPods into treatment where appropriate.
What Is Myofascial Cupping?
Myofascial cupping uses cups to create negative pressure against the skin and underlying superficial tissues.
Depending on the technique and treatment purpose, cups may be positioned temporarily or used dynamically as part of treatment.
Myofascial cupping may be combined with other remedial and myofascial techniques.
What Are RockPods?
RockPods are flexible silicone cups that allow the therapist to apply controlled suction to selected treatment areas.
The therapist can incorporate them into movement-based and myofascial techniques depending on the client's presentation.
Does Cupping Leave Marks?
Cupping can sometimes temporarily change the appearance of the skin.
Responses vary by client and by technique.
Your therapist should explain possible skin responses before treatment.
Is Cupping Suitable for Everyone?
No.
Cupping has contraindications and precautions, so your therapist should assess whether it is appropriate before treatment.
At Sana, we do not perform cupping on the forearms. We can use alternative hands-on techniques when the forearm muscles require treatment.
When receiving treatment, we may also avoid cupping on unsuitable skin, wounds, certain vascular areas, or in other circumstances where treatment is contraindicated.
Myofascial Cupping Cronulla
At Sana Remedial Massage Cronulla, cupping is not a stand-alone gimmick or automatically included in every massage.
We may select it as one of several techniques based on your assessment and treatment needs.
